Cornet Vincent Ségurel and Linklaters assist Timothée Durand on the acquisition of Arc

The historic French glass manufacturer had been placed in receivership on January 7, 2026. This takeover will preserve the group’s French operations and safeguard more than 2,700 jobs in France.

Founded in 1825, Arc is one of the last major French glass manufacturers and a leading international tableware manufacturer, with iconic brands such as Arcoroc, Luminarc, Cristal d’Arques Paris, and Chef&Sommelier. The group, headquartered in Arques in the Pas-de-Calais region, employs nearly 5,700 people worldwide and produces 4 million items daily, generating revenue of €688 million in 2024.

Faced with a severe and ongoing deterioration of its market environment—a collapse in demand for tableware, rising production costs, and increased international competition—the group filed for receivership with the Lille Métropole Commercial Court on January 7, 2026, despite several refinancing plans and repeated support from the government.

Timothée Durand, a member of the group’s founding family and former executive at Arc, proposed a takeover plan targeting Arc Holding—the holding company overseeing, in particular, the group’s international industrial entities—as well as all of Arc France’s assets. The court’s approval of this offer marks a decisive step for the long-term viability of this industrial flagship of northern France.
